She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.
Proverbs 31:25

Proverbs 31:10-31 is a tribute to a wife of virtue, and it is an acrostic in the Hebrew with each verse beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.  This passage of Scripture may seem overwhelming to a woman who thinks this paragon of virtue unreachable.  This woman described in Proverbs 31 seems perfect and good at everything she puts her hand to.  The overall message of the passage, however, is what a blessing a woman of godly character can be to her husband, her children and her community.  Who doesn’t want a wife like that?  Who doesn’t want to have that kind of lasting legacy?

Proverbs, in 1:7:
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

A woman who fears the Lord is someone who has placed her trust in the master and creator of the universe and faces her days with humility and faith.  When she knows God in a personal and transformative way, she is not troubled by the set-backs that come her way.  She is not anxious and flustered.  She goes about her day taking each task as it comes and accomplishing it with a servant heart looking to the needs of others in and outside of her family.  When you trust in the God who is the same yesterday, today and forever, what do you have to fear?  Your hope is in Him alone.  You can laugh at the days to come, because you know the end game.  “To live is Christ, and to die is gain” is how the Apostle Paul explained that kind of faith.
