Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:1-6
Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Psalm 37:39-40
The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
David obviously is struggling with his enemies looking like they will not be punished. But looking to the Lord we know they will be punished. So as we trust in the Lord, delight in the Lord, and commit our ways to the Lord He will give us the desires of our hearts. Meaning our hearts will align with God’s will and we will do what God intended for us to do. This is the very opposite of doing what our flesh desires. There are bad desires and good desires. The only way to know the good desires is to give our lives to the Lord following His ways. Our natural desires will always be contrary to God’s desires. Like when we see someone do evil things and seem to get away with it (lying, cheating, stealing, etc.). Our natural desire would be to go and do likewise since it seems like there is no punishment. That of course is not true and wrong.
Flesh verses the Spirit Reference
Galatians 5:16-17
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
